Let’s leave off TIPS and privacy and whatnot for a moment and turn our attention to genetically modified grain, a topic I haven’t visited in far too long. Our top story tonight: Officials in Zimbabwe, already struggling against drought and famine, are being forced to turn down “offers” of GM corn from the US. If they accept it, they’ll seal their own death warrant, as it’s almost certain that the corn will sooner or later be planted — contaminating future exports and ruining the economy. The US claims there’s no plot to force this bad grain on anyone, but isn’t about to admit that Zimbabwe’s allowed to decide such things for themselves: Quoth one overfed Yankee asshole, “Beggars can’t be choosers.” Christ! No wonder the world hates us.
